While it’s too early to decide where “What About Us” ranks, we took upon the unenviable task of counting down P!nk’s ten best visuals ahead of her VMA honor. 2. “Try” (2012) After all these years, the hot-pink spiky ‘do and rancid-green turtleneck in her debut are still strangely satisfying. This video sees our hero crash her motorcycle into the window of some asshole’s bachelor pad. The clip was followed by a bizarre sequel with “Most Girls,” which trades a storyline for aggressive millennium-era dance moves and a shirtless, cello-playing muscleman. Sure! 5. “Lady Marmalade” with Christina Aguilera, Mya and Lil’ Kim (2001) This video is quintessential P!nk: it’s hilarious, irreverent and you can tell she had a blast filming it. (Part of the fun is that she gets to hand yet another man his ass -- one of her favorite pasttimes.) The music video sees P!nk as a manipulative lover, taking the song’s titular plea quite literally: her beau can’t leave her if he’s physically incapable of doing so. As a comedic homage to the thriller genre -- it references to The Shining , Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? and Misery . Needless to say, this is a cinematic masterwork. This Western-themed visual co-starred a pre- Avengers Jeremy Renner, and showcased pop’s favorite renegade doing what she does best: kicking ass. The nod to animal cruelty, an issue she’s stood up against throughout her career, offers a touch of substance to the action-packed clip. 6. “Sober” (2008) If this video were released today, it would surely inspire a thousand thinkpieces damning P!nk for its slut-shamey themes. But this video is an expertly crafted timestamp of its era, one where Paris Hilton ran rampant across gossip blogs and Hillary Clinton was still a decade out from securing her histroical presidental nomination. With lyrics like “Outcasts and girls with ambition/ That’s what I want to see,” is it worth putting P!nk’s feminism on trial? (The answer should be no.) 3. “U + Ur Hand” (2006) On Tuesday (Aug. 14), it was announced that P!nk would perform and receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2017 MTV VMAs. She followed the announcement by releasing her clip for “What About Us,” the lead single for her upcoming seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma (due Oct. 13). A visual call to arms, the Georgia Hudson-directed video feels eerily timely, given that it was filmed before this past weekend’s violent white supremacist gatherings in Virginia. When it comes to her more somber clips, this one will be hard to top. Ever the athlete, P!nk executes the most strenuous choreography of her career. She even upped the ante by recreating the jawdropping routine live -- at the 2012 American Music Awards and every night on her year-long The Truth About Love tour, without missing a note. Meanwhile, we’re just exhausted thinking about it. The effects are proudly of its time, but that’s half the fun. The other half? Her hair. The glam budget on this one had to be astronomical -- but it was worth every penny. Unsure of which I’m Not Dead single to lead with, P!nk filmed both “U + Ur Hand” and “Stupid Girls” back to back with longtime collaborator Dave Meyers -- and they couldn’t be more different. While “Stupid Girls” showcased the singer’s humor, “U + Ur Hand” was more fashion-focused. The clip chronicles scenes of Lady Delish -- who, judging by the fierce looks she’s serving, is P!nk’s drag queen alter-ego. Don’t expect a return of Delish, either: "It was four hours of makeup and one hour of shooting for every different look in the video," she told MTV News. "I'll never do it again, so enjoy it! Because it sucked." Hubby Carey Hart has appeared in several P!nk videos since, but he made his debut with this one -- for a song that chronicled their almost-divorce. “He hadn't heard the song before he showed up for the video. He's a good sport,” P!nk told Radio 1. The pair rekindled their romance, and Hart even surprised P!nk onstage during a recreation of the clip’s pillow fight. D’awwww. 9. “Don’t Let Me Get Me” (2002) 4. “Stupid Girls” (2006) P!nk is known for her larger than life presence, so when she shows her softer side, it’s quite stunning. Take for instance her video for “Sober.” Even with a steamy P!nk-on-P!nk sex scene, nothing about this clip feels gratuitous. This music video is an undeniable camp masterpiece. But given that it’s an ensemble piece, ranking it any higher would have felt unfair. Still, one of the things this clip did well was showcase each diva’s persona (talk about squad goals). With her bedazzled top hat -- a subtle nod to Slash, perhaps? -- P!nk stood out as the rock ‘n’ roll goddess.
